Monday 21st October – windsurf * Port La Nautique – Cloudy
Woke to fog again:( Had breakfast watching the flamingo’s flying over
and landing in our etang – they run on the water, it is hilarious:) Then
headed back to Port La Nautique in case it got windy. I was just thinking
it wasn’t going to happen and that we would just have lunch and go and do
something else this afternoon. Then suddenly about 30 windsurfers (mainly
right old women!) arrived and stood around looking like the wind was going
to blow imminently. We hung around waiting, assuming they had seen a good
forecast, then I rigged up and got my suit on. Mag went off on a bike ride
on her own to the village of Mandriac and the canal. She had a brilliant
time and was out for an hour and a quarter. I finally decided to go out
and stayed out for a couple of hours. The wind never did really arrive but
I was happy enough to have explored the etang and gone over to Bages and
nearly as far as our parking place over near Peyraic:) It was good to
discover that this etang is perfect for south east as you have nine miles
of etang to explore. We moved the van round the back of the hills
surrounding Nautique so we were sheltered if the wind started to blow and
away from the other campers. Apparently not supposed to park here anymore
but nobody seems to take any notice of that! Went for a walk over towards
the other campers and Mag showed me her route on the map.
